DHA Peshawar was officially launched on November 15, 2015. Within four months, Phase I of the project has been balloted, an instalment plan is in place, and related dues have been announced. This efficiency has left me surprised as DHA Multan, where file trade has been going on for the last two years, is still anticipating its official launch.
The ballot controversy
Earlier on, the Defence Housing Authority announced that it had a limited number of plot files in DHA Peshawar Phase I. As per my sources, about 75,000 applications were received, so naturally more than 90% of the applicants were unsuccessful in the balloting. This made the consequent rumours about fraudulent balloting inevitable.
According to some of the people who were present at the balloting held on March 05, 2016, due protocol was followed to ensure that the results were fair. I think it’s time to accept the fact that there was no foul play – DHA Peshawar only issued and balloted the files for which it had acquired land and, therefore, could not accommodate so many applicants.
Intimation letters
According to DHA Peshawar’s official Facebook page, intimation letters were mailed to the successful candidates on March 10. Applicants were due to receive these letters within 3 working days, so most of them must have been received by now. DHA has also enclosed membership forms and the payment schedule of these files in the mailing.
Payment schedule
The first instalment of DHA Peshawar plots files is due by July 10, but successful applicants have to deposit the down payment, membership fee and miscellaneous charges by April 10. The initial deposit for 1-kanal plots files is PKR 549,990 and that for 10-marla files is PKR 299,990.
The detailed payment schedule is as follows:
Down Payment | Quarterly Instalment | Membership Fee | Misc. Charges | |
10 Marla | 250,000 | 212,500 x 12 | 22,830 | 27,160 |
1 Kanal | 500,000 | 417,000 x 12 | 22,830 | 27,160 |
How to make the payment
Successful applicants have to submit separate pay orders and membership forms for each file. The bank draft or pay order of PKR 549,990 for a 1-kanal file and PKR 299,990 for a 10 marla file has to be made for Defence Housing Authority Peshawar. Along with the intimation letter, the applicant has to enclose a cover letter that includes following information:
- File number
- Applicant’s complete name
- Name of applicant’s father name or name of husband (if the applicant is female and married)
- Complete mailing address
- Current address (if it is different from the permanent address or not the same as the mailing address)
- CNIC or NICOP numbers
- Contact numbers
- Applicants have to attach passport-sized photographs with a blue background along with attested copies of their CNIC or NICOP
Fine for late payment
If you are unable to make the payment on time, 18% annual interest will be charged on the due amount. For each instalment missed or delayed, the fine will be calculated on per day basis.
